Artist's Statement Pottery making is an amazing blend of art and science. Making a good pot requires much practice, and making beautiful glazes is a lifetime obsession for most potters. I am enjoying this holistic adventure with clay as it constantly challenges my technical skills, deepens my understanding of geology and chemistry, and ultimately satisfies my need to create. I am very grateful to have this opportunity to connect with you through an ancient craft of earth and fire. I hand craft all pottery in my home studio by either throwing on the wheel or hand building with slabs of clay. Each piece is made from white stoneware clay and has been fired in a kiln to 2200 degrees F. It is oven, dishwasher and microwave safe. All my glazes are lead free and have been mixed by hand using powdered rocks and metals.
